My final Blobject sculpture is fabricated using blue 3D printed and laser cut MDF parts. I designed and 3D modeled the hands and a quick mockup of the cube in Cinema 4D. I then booled out the cube from the hands so they would be 3D printed with spaces for the laser cut MDF pieces to fit into.
After producing the 3D printed parts, I trimmed the supports, filed down the gaps so the laser cut parts could fit, and chemically smoothed and assembled them together. I trimmed the laser cut pieces and finally glued them all in so they appear to be passing through the “blobby” hands.
