Overthinking is a common trait amongst people in today’s society. Overthinking leads to increased stress, unrealistic assumptions and expectations, and in too common of situations, suicide. Overthinking is simply defined as “think about something too much or for too long” but it is more than that. It becomes a fixation and it feels as though someone is tightening down restricting cords around one’s mind. It makes everyday tasks like social interactions and mundane actions like driving to work or class, difficult to concentrate on and feels like it takes longer than it should. Appetite is lost, sleep is lost, and motivation cannot be recovered.
