3D Planted Flower Friend (Sensitive Mimosa Pudica)

This project proposal is going in two possible directions. The project and its initial sketches was for a 3D printed plant that grew when light was shined upon it, wilted when it is hot out, grew faster or slower, depending on water levels, and reacted to wind, touch, and sound. When it is no longer subject to light, it folds back into itself and returns back to it’s earthy pot. This project may also progress in a direction in which the 3D printed plant reacts to touch in a similar way the Mimosa Pudica reacts to touch. While this plant will react to light, temperature, water levels, wind, and sound, it will also be greatly influenced by touch. When the leaves are touched, the Mimosa Pudica, or Sensitive Plant, will retract it’s leaves into a more compact form. My 3D printed plant will simulate just touch just like the Mimosa Pudica.
